This has been bugging me for a while from a lot of the Mass Effect fandom (and even me for a time).
Let’s get a few things straight.
No person deserves to be treated with less respect because of 

• the way they look (baby face, oompa-loompa, jersey whore)
• they way they dress
• their sexual conduct (as long as it’s safe and consensual)

Railing on her for being a “jersey shore skank” or a just because her face isn’t pretty is a shallow reason for hating on her.
If you hate her personality only use her personality in your explanation. Using her provocative appearance as a weapon and slut shamming is backwards.

All she does is take up an otherwise unoccupied room and help.
Diana is a positive influence.

I don’t hate Allers as a character, I hate how Bioware went out of their way to model her after some random chick who was only popular because of her boobs and spending a ton of money giving her a custom model, when they could have spent those resources on… I dunno, a better ending? Not forgetting that Thane and Jacob were love interests? That sort of stuff.

However your anger is still going towards this woman and her body, even though you specified it was Bioware’s fault.

That is using appearance as a weapon.

This, goddamnit.

I mean, yes, maybe she isn’t the best voice actor in the series, but so what? Her character being there on Normandy makes sense. It’s fucking war, and she’s reporting straight from one of Alliance’s most important vessels. That gives people hope, you know? Oh, riiight. You didn’t like her body, who cares that her show has bilions of fans accross the goddamn galaxy, damnit!

Plus, she sends you one of the best messages! You can read it on your private terminal before Earth. Made me smile. Mada my Shepard smile! In that moment, almost impossible, but she did it.

So yeah, I haven’t heard one argument of how, I don’t know, her reports are wrong, or maybe she’s too rude, or her voice is not realistic enough - but no, it’s always boobs. True, I would give her a proper uniform - not only to her but Ashley, Garrus and even Liara need something more appropriate to wear while on goddamn Alliance ship. And I wish there were more conversations with her, not only with Shepard but with other crewmembers maybe. When I picked her up in Presidium, I half expected to see some of the crew fighting with her, or her interrupting something or puting something clasified in her reprots - but no! Not a thing! She didn’t break a single rule while on Normandy.

Say what you like, but if she was he, nobody would mind. Much.

I don’t give a shit about what Allers looks like and I don’t give a shit that she’s a woman. I don’t like her because she occupies space that could have been occupied by Thane, Samara, Miranda, Mordin, Zaeed, Legion, Grunt, Jack, Jacob, or Kasumi. All she does is stand around and gives you two or three tiny EMS boosts. I don’t like her because she’s a damned useless character and represents wasted resources and effort that could have been focused elsewhere.

extremely little has changed, personality wise

I was small and cute at one point. I grew out of both of those things.

My grandmother made me that Snow White dress for Halloween when I was three. I wore it until it fell apart, which was when I was about 7 or 8. And, yes, I even wore it when we were working in the yard. Don’t get between Twixty and her dresses.
